The 2015 San Diego County Fair Welcomes New Food and Vendors

The 2015 Del Mar Fair is almost here, and San Diegans are looking forward to one of the fairs most attractive offerings, Fair Food. Along with its famous traditional eats like Corn on the Cob, Turkey Legs, Country Fair Cinnamon Rolls, Tasti-Chips. Australian Battered Potatoes, Gingerbread House and Rose's Mexican Food, The fair will also be introducing some new foods that have the potential of becoming new fair classics. This Year the Fair will be introduced to an abundance of pork items, Cajun, and some new cheese and seafood options. We can’t forget to mention Chicken Charlie will be looking to outdo himself again by adding all new items to his deep fried foods list.

Starting with pork, which will be prepared in many ways. People will get a chance to savor BBQ Pig Skins (deep-fried pig skins tossed in BBQ seasoning), Pig Trough (three pounds of pig skins topped with pulled pork and cheese), Sweet Pork Tacos and Burritos, Chocolate-Covered Pork Rinds, Deep-Fried Pork Sandwich and Cajun Pork Rinds. On the Cajun Menu we have Breaded Cajun Shrimp and Jalapeños, Cajun Shrimp Skewers, Cajun Hushpuppies (cornmeal deep fried with Cajun flavoring). We'll have some bacon delights too; Wasabi Bacon Bombs (spicy pork with wasabi, wrapped in dough and bacon and fried), Wasabi Bacon Fries (fries with wasabi, bacon, grilled onions and peppers), and Chicken-Fried Bacon (bacon in chicken-fried steak batter). The cheese and seafood varieties include Grilled Cheese Frito Crunch Sandwich and Grilled French Onion Soup. For the seafood lover there's the Shark Taco, and Po' Boy Fish and Shrimp Sandwiches (traditionally made on French baguette, Louisiana-style). We'll even have a Brussels Sprouts Sandwich (lightly toasted sprouts with hoisin, honey and Sriracha sauce) Last but not least we can’t forget to mention our new desserts which include new Chocolate-Dipped Strawberry Waffle Bowl Sundae, Chocolate-Covered Gourmet Kettlecorn (the sweet and salty popcorn treat we already know, only drizzled in chocolate), and the S'mores-Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie Dessert (a layer of chocolate chip cookie dough, Hershey's bar, toasted marshmallows, graham crackers, and another layer of cookie dough. It's then baked and served à la mode and garnished in hot fudge). How about some Deep-Fried Starbucks (Starbucks whole coffee beans and chocolate chips in sweet pastry dough, deep fried, rolled in sugar and served with whipped cream)

The fair this year is sure to astound Locals and visitors alike so be sure to visit and try one of the many new treats and make sure to stop by chicken charlies and try his new deep fried slimfast bar or his deep fried peanut butter pickles ! With over 1000 food items to choose from the fair will definitely be the best way to start the summer!
